As of last summer there where some announcements made by MS to support RAW in Vista - as far as I can see RAW support is not there in beta 2. Can we expect RAW in RTM or is it a victim of feature cuts like a lot of other good things?

Where is the promissed RAW picture support?
You can expect RAW support in RTM. Support is actually there in Beta 2 but it's a chicken and egg type deal... There aren't any RAW codecs yet. Camera vendors are in the process of writing codecs right now. By the time vista RTM's several will be available for download. The photo gallery has a feature that will look for codec's for RAW files it can't decode and prompt you to download the codec similiar to WMP.

Just curious why every time I start "Windows Photo Gallery" it tells me there is an update that will allow me to see additional types of images? It asks me if I want to download the update, which I do, and then just re-directs me to www.windows.com?
Thanks for any help

Why everyime I start Windows Photo Gallery does it tell me there are new updates available? It says something to the effect of "There is an update that will allow you to see additional types of images. DO you wish to download?" I say yes and then it redirects me to windows.com...
Any ideas?

Is there an answer to this question? If there is an update, where is it located?

After RTM that dialog will lead you to a location to get the RAW codecs. What you are seeing is the detection code that you have RAW files. There aren't any codecs ready for public consumption yet.
